Windows 7 comes with a new mail client which does not automatically import all your email settings, namely the rules you may have created on your Windows Mail from Win Vista.
If you wish to preserve your Windows Mail as on Vista, just download Windows Mail from Microsoft and install it; your Vista Mail client will automatically be configured and ready to go as it was on Vista including the rules you may have created.

In addition to setting up multiple email accounts in Windows Live Mail, you can use it as a news client, a blogging tool and an RSS reader. Sending photographs taken from your digital camera is a breeze in this software because of the Photo email feature. Microsoft has also increased the security features in the client by adding an automated junk email filter that scans all incoming messages to protect you from spam and phishing attacks.
Microsoft recommends strongly to abandon the earlier mail clients and to use Windows Live Mail.
