Is DubLi a Scam?

October 13, 2008 - by YORGOOpublishing - Have you noticed, whenever an online business opportunity pops up, quickly you will find some authors claiming that : It's scam. And worse, these kind of publications get good visibility on Google. We know, it's not Google's job to exercise any kind of Quality control or control about the legality of the content Google indexes or lists. However, it seems to be just a normal pattern that on any MLM or networking opportunity or online business, such scam related articles most often without substantiating content get disproportionate attention.

Take the key-word DubLi for example and look it up on Google: Scam.com ranks on spot 2, even before DubLi.com and right after DubLiNetwork.com. Scam ranks before all those who know DubLi inside out, those who have had a serious look at it an who have done their due diligence before associating their names to DubLi.

What is true for DubLi is true for many other Opportunities and people may wonder: is every online business a scam?

It's about the keyword: Scam and DubLi

Search engines work that way: they search for the words you type into the search box and combinations of such words. Typing in : Is DubLi Scam for example, you will get articles who in one or the other way contain tags like DubLi and Scam. That makes sense to me and probably to anyone using Google.

If I type in just Scam, I will not get a DubLi Scam report any close to the top of the listing.

Why do I get scam articles on top of the keyword DubLi then?

It's about Publishing Power and Onsite Optimization.

A domain or a website over time gains Google's confidence and respect and that depends on a few factors I have developed in our Semiomantics Seminars. The longer your site is out there and the more content you offer globally the higher your global authority and therefore your publishing power. On top of that, if you use a Google friendly site structure and make it easy for the spider to crawl your site, then Google will honor your efforts.

If you look at  scam.com and their forum you will notice a logic file structure. The forum script allows easy crawling as well. In the case of the DubLi Scam related thread, you see how it's placed on scam.com :

Scam.com is quite a large site with thousands of articles and it is of course not easy to compete when you just have registered your domain and set up your blog. 

What are the implication of online Publishing Power?

Publishing is one of the professions which has been turned upside-down by the development of the internet similar to Advertising. Google and eBay have contributed to a large extent to the fact, that the internet gives about everyone equal chances to publish and to build visibility, in the worst case by using GoogleAds or eBay Partner Ads. If you cannot get your page listed on the top 10 on Google, you can always post an ad to that page at minimal cost.

However, if you are a Company or a Business, you are almost forced to publish in a Google efficient way, because that's what prospects see and that's where interested people look for information and news.

For the time being, not many legal actions have succeeded in correcting the publishing anarchy online and it may yet take a while till untrue and false allegations online find their due sanctions. But in the end of the day there will be a clean up, be it for trademark and copyright infringements or be it for damaging the reputation in an illegal way.

It's all about Reputation and Confidence

Your business stands and falls with it's Reputation, Credibility and the Confidence the public places into you. Online business is highly dependent on the perception people get from the way you and your business becomes visible online, and namely on popular places where many people hang out, such as on Google, YAHOO Groups, Social Networks and so on.

Large Companies spend ten thousands per month to optimize their pages and to work on their online communication, image and the perceptible parts of the company online. It's a permanent worry and a permanent job, since dynamic content, more recent articles, posts and publications often get rapid visibility online and even if they are not very sticky, there will always be the next well intended publisher publishing some sort of nonsense about you.

Online Publishing Power is a commodity of high value. If your site succeeds in placing it's post quickly and efficiently on Google, then you have built an arm and a highly valuable asset which will attract readers and advertisers, generate leads and ultimately cash.

Is there a shortcut to efficient publishing?

There are rules to respect and everyone can learn them. Conclusion:

If scam posts are ahead of your own posts, then it's worth while to work on your own on-site and off-site optimization as well as on your own image and credibility. Legal fights to defend your public integrity may be costly and not very efficient. There are however ways to increase the density of your visibility to thus over-write the perceptible importance of unjustified scam and other negative reports.
