MLM Marketing: 7 Misconceptions 3

MLM Bolts and Nuts vs. MLM Lies 3

In this series of articles I will show you the difference between MLM reality and the usual Hype Campaigns directed by unprofessional Networkers to a widely untargeted audience. In fact, I will describe what happened to me and you could well find that you have gone through similar situations. The most important will be to draw the right conclusions and to adopt a professional and business like view about your Networking Business.

MLM Lie 3: You don’t need to sell, just share Products and Opportunity with other people!

Wow, everybody becomes a Mother Theresa in his own right now! But isn’t that a typical Networkers Slogan: don’t sell, just share. No need to have any sales skills, just be a nice guy and share. In a world where words have no more meaning, we may get used to use any word for just about any meaning, with the advantage that there will soon be only lies out there or nothing will ever be a lie.

Judge: Did you steal this weight-loss pack from John?

Paul: No, I was just sharing it with him – or he with me: John is a Networker!

Try this line and let’s see if our understanding of sharing has deviated so far that you can replace selling or stealing by sharing. If Networkers MLM Hype would govern the world, we’d probably end up with some interesting laws:

- Don’t share when the object does not belong to you.

- When you share, a due counter value in hard currency is due to you.

-In the above case, Paul may go to jail or be fined for sharing John’s weight-loss pack, because John did not get his due reward for sharing.

How about sharing your knowledge and know-how: in your professional life, your money is earned because you sell your know-how and knowledge and so on to your employer, who wraps it up in the creation of a product which then is sold.

Did you ever go to your office or job, feeling happy about going there to share your brain and hands with your employer? For Free? No? Well you probably never considered that your work is sharing anything except that you may have had this Marxist, Leninist and Trotzkist ambition to share your employers profits beyond the level of your pay-check.

Communism has been promoted as the big economic philosophy of sharing (must have been great networkers those guys :-)). And we all have learned, that communism is the opposite of capitalism. Now how about that!

What it boils down to:

Capitalism is the exploitation of men by men.

Communism is the inverse!

Try to figure that one out …!

It’s absurd as it is absurd to talk about sharing when you mean selling.

As a networker you are in a sales business and even if you are not selling anything, since your merchant actually sells, it’s your job to pre-sell. Just driving traffic is not enough and I have not seen any MLM Company’s website with a hot and sexy recruiting pipeline built in. These company sites are usually rather sober, neutral, with some flat content, copied pasted from others who did it before and spiced up with the unique pay plan which is like a same Theme with it’s Variations throughout the industry. The Company’s websites DO NOT SELL. So, you have to sell in your name or with your endorsement, for the account of the Company and you may get rewarded for doing so.

But, fact remains: YOU SELL. Pre-selling and selling are about the same since when you have pre-sold, the prospect is ready to sign and pay.

Here we are closer to the truth: as a networker you are in the selling industry, some in the direct selling industry. Have you ever heard about the Sharing Industry?

Great: at least we know now what we are supposed to be and the obvious question is: what does it need to be successful in Selling?

Well, if you are in the surgery or medical business, what does it take to be successful? You probably need some sills, know-how, knowledge, expertise, experience, even if you are a so called Natural Healer.

In Sales Business it’s all the same: you need Sales Skills, Marketing Skills, Communication Skills …

The good thing is: you can acquire these skills, but of course only if you are aware that you need them and that your desire to do that business and your Interest are strong enough to push you through the hardship of learning, exercising and growing on the task.

What these Skills are and where to learn them and how to use them, will be part of the exceptional Seminar schedule of the Ycademy Online Business education seminar, which will take place on October 25/26, 2008.

Check out the Agenda and join the most dynamic seminar and Workshop online if it’s not yet sold out.
