Greek Coffee for Scripts and Services

After a low inspiration day, here is some fun stuff for your week-end…I have to catch up somehow :-).

Later today you will see a new category on this blog called Coffee4Scripts. This is an old Greek idea which had allready been used by our ancesters who are said to have been networking way before Pericles (about 450 BC) and they have been successful, the proof, we are still doing it.

The method is simple:success is based on the number of people you have coffee with. The more the better. If a Greek, say is name be Costas, wants something from you, he starts this way: "Let’s have coffee…". Now you know, he wants something from you and Costas knows that you are aware that he wants something from you. 

Sounds Greek to you? May be, but think about it: it’s great communication: instead of like all over the net to ask for a free service here and a free tool there, the Greeks do it in style. Even better: if I don’t want to help, I just find some excuse why I cannot have coffee with Costas at this time and that means, sorry bloke, no time or interest without offending.

The good thing about it is: I have not refused to provide help or a service and our friendship is in no way jeopardized. It just didn’t suit me to have coffee at this moment in time with Costa.

Costa does not look like a fool either, because he has not come on his knees begging for something, which would put him into a situation of inferiority. To the contrary: he has been generous, inviting me for coffee….

You get the idea…others call it diplomacy, good manners or with generosity you jump further.. or simply: keep your face no matter what you are up to and always leave a door open for an exit with glory.

If you have understood this principle, you have probably understood a big deal of networking and good old Greek communication and negociation skills.

 Obviously we are not in Greece in the Globa Market, but then, it won’t hurt to bring some Greek Sunshine to the www.

The Category ‘Coffee4Scripts’ works like this: all you will see there is available for free, however, you can decide if you want to do it the Greek way or the Barbarian way (‘barbarians’ were people who were not under the influence of Greek civilization in old times): you can invite me for a coffee or just grab the stuff, just as you feel and like.

The Greek way creates Goodwill and will cause new products to be added. Put it this way: for every coffee I will add a product, service or tool. While we have cofee you can grab whatever you like and for as long as someone invites me for a coffee, I will load stuff. The number of coffees will show you the number of products or the inverse.

Also, the more people like the place, the more coffe I get and the more stuff to grabb you get . You may also make suggestions about what you would like to get there, just post a comment. This can be a short customized video or screenshot- tutorial, to software or a little tool or whatever problem you may face.
