Looking at Sales performance online, we notice that the buyers’ trust factor is heavily influenced by the sellers profile, the way the seller is perceived and the way the seller manages to build his own image.
Authority and personal profiles become traffic harvesters as soon as we start using the means we have at our finger tips. Is it free traffic or paid traffic? In theory it’s free traffic, practically you will notice while surfing that successful companies and individuals spend loads of money on branding and profiling.
For Home Business Builders the problem is the same considering the competitive market and the complexity of the online communication systems.
While a few years ago a simple About Me page on a membership program did the trick, today we have to consider using more sophisticated means to get our name or brand to the point where it will harvest automatically traffic.
There is another issue here and this one is a lot more general, global and has a high risk factor:
reasonably, no one can escape the internet. Most anyone can be found in one form or another and who has ever been listed and be it just in a phone book can be tracked down. Phone books, mailing lists, memberships, your own webpages, your blog entries, your comments on forums, whatever you do leaves a trace and will sooner or later constitute your online image or profile.
Imagine all the youngsters who today write blogs and nonsense to the www…in 20 years when they apply for a public office, a job, an apartmnent to rent, the membership in a club, their internet profile will become public and a reference…
Don’t think that by deleting a post or a website you will disappear. There are history archives where you can look up the content of your website or blog say 5 years ago. It has been stored and every modification recorded.
