What does FTP stand for

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It’s a term used to express the function of transfering files for one location to another - from your pc to a server on the www.

An FTP client is just the interface that is used to make the transfer. There are many FTP clients to choose from - from a simple free FTP client to professional paid version of the FTP software.
